Balochistan package 'charity': Magsi
Balochistan news

QUETTA – Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has said that without granting provincial autonomy, the Balochistan issue could not be resolved.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he said that the package announced for Balochistan was nothing but a ‘charity’, adding, what was being granted by the Federal Government was the right of the people of Balochistan.

Balochistan package 'charity': MagsiReferring to deteriorating law and order situation, he said that law and order was not the issue of Balochistan only rather the whole country was confronted with a difficult situation.
When his attention was drawn towards threats of US drone attacks in Balochistan, he said ‘we are dependent on America. Whenever someone becomes dependent on others then accepting their dictations becomes compulsion’.
Earlier, addressing a seminar on ‘Good Governance’ and launching of ‘Adopt school campaign’ organised by Eminent Citizens Forum & Innovative Development Organisation in collaboration with Concern Worldwide Pakistan Programme & Save the Children UK, he regretted that recruitments of teachers were made on political grounds instead of merit which had pushed the province towards backwardness in education sector.
Stressing the need for recruitment of teachers purely on merit, he said that this was inevitable for improving standard of education in the province.
He said that it was a big tragedy that political parties used students for their interests and added ‘Ministers give a list of candidates of their own choice to the Executive District Officers for appointment as teachers’.
He said that appointment of competent teachers in such a situation was not possible.
Addressing on this occasion, Federal Minister Humayun Aziz said that target killings of teachers and migration of skilled people from the province was conspiracy against Balochistan.
He held former President Pervez Muharraf responsible for all the mess in Balochistan and said that former dictator was also responsible for killing of veteran Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
He said the PPP government had given a package to the province to lessen its sense of deprivation and they would welcome proposals for its improvement.
